Top Streams of 2017, According To Spotify
It is about to be 2018 but before I hop into this upcoming bountiful year, Spotify has helped with collecting the artists and songs that I kept on repeat throughout 2017. According to 2017wrapped.com, I listened to 42,225 minutes of music. That is 703.75 hours, or 29.3 days of non-stop listening. So basically, that's a February, on a leap year, worth of music listening. Music is a stimulant for me.
Top Artists & Songs
I do not know where Uzi appeared from. I said, "Lil Uzi Vert, oh no, I cannot deal with the evil image he puts forth," but then 'Luv Is Rage 2' was released. Based on the number of times I hit rewind on those songs pushed Uzi to my #1 most streamed artist. Now, my #4 most streamed song was "Sauce It Up" but that was because I kept replaying the song to hear if he really says "Lucifer" in the first five seconds. My favorite song from the project is actually "The Way Life Goes" featuring Oh Wonder.
The come up story of 2017 was most definitely Miss Belcalis Almanzar bka Cardi B. I was playing Gangsta Bitch Music Vol. 1 & 2 from last year and then a little gem, you have heard of it, "Bodak Yellow" exploded this past summer. From my excitement and genuine like for her music, I was listening to her music everyday. Then my #2 song came in the form of her feature on G-Eazy's "No Limit." "Put a white boy on Sazón, I might turn G-Eazy out" was the line of the year for me. In fact, let me go and play her verse now.
Now as far as Future goes, I am no super fan but I could not ignore the amount of material he released this year. Also, if I can credit Future for one thing, it's that he and his team produce some awesome instrumentals. "Draco," my #5 most streamed song, is the perfect example of this. The melody and bass-heavy instrumental had me losing my mind.
I did not know who NAV was but then a little song came along called "Some Way," which made him my #4 most streamed artist and my #2 most streamed song of 2017. There is just something about the smoothness of the song, and The Weeknd's voice.
The foursome, known as Fifth Harmony, rocked my summer of 2017 for a few weeks with their latest self-titled album. I found it to be their best yet and plus I had the encouragement of a friend to keep listening. Tracks like "Down," featuring Gucci Mane, "He Like That," "Sauced Up," "Make You Mad," and "Lonely Night" were kept in constant rotation.
In the beginning, I did not really see it for Justine Skye. You know when a new artist hits the scene and you cannot tell what they look like unless you are staring at an image of him or her. That was how it was for Justine Sky but now I can recognize that beauty from a mile away. "Back For More" featuring Jeremih was an anthem for me. That bridge and chorus fully resonated with me. My interest has surged to see what she delivers in 2018.
