Young Hov & The Letter B, That's Just How I Like Them
This upcoming April 4 makes ten years since music's premiere couple made their love partnership a legal union. With all the rumors swirling of another joint tour between Jay-Z and Beyoncé it took me back to one of my favorite songs from the pair. Also, I would definitely see them again for a joint outing because the "On The Run" tour was pure entertainment.
Before I mention that particular song let's briefly speak about this famous couple. How many of you are into zodiac signs? I am and if you know anything about the topic, based on their sun signs, Mr. and Mrs. Carter are not meant to be united, at all. Yes, by textbook definition, Virgo's and Sagittarius' are impossibly compatible. Fortunately I am all about stepping outside of the blueprint of what studies teach us. I believe that your opposite zodiac might be the most painful experience but it will surely make you grow the most: the yin to your yang. I never believed these two were the fairy tale they portrayed prior to the 2014 incident but in the same breath I believe they are elevated above the "normal" constraints of a romantic union which continues to keep the two of them together through all the mess they experience.
With that out of the way, let's get into the pair's music collaborations. This couple is featured on each other's songs about a dozen or more times. With the recent release of "Top Off" by DJ Khaled, also featuring Future, The Carters just added another song to the list but it is far from my favorite. Out of all these collaborations there is still one that I simply love. That song is, "That's How You Like It." This song was created and released in their early stages of them being a couple; it appeared on Beyoncé's debut album, 'Dangerously In Love.' The simplicity of the song is what makes it appealing to me. The melody is so rhythmic and I'm a sucker for bass so this song is "it" for me. I've been listening to this song for 15 years and it stills sounds fresh.
Today is Friday, March 02, 2018. Beyonce is one month and 11 days away from gracing the stage at Coachella. I am wondering what she will deliver for this next era: the twins (Gemini), Blue, ten years of being Mrs. Carter. How will this all tie-in this time around? For now, listen to Bey and Jay tell you how they like it.
Bonus: Take a look at some "vintage" Carter footage.
