Lowdown Hudson Music Fest 2017: OK Go
Last night we caught Common at the ‘2017 Lowdown Hudson Music Festival’ at Brookfield Place. Tonight was night two of two of the festival with opening act Flint Eastwood and OK Go. Once again I missed the opening act; I was in need of a food replenishment and that “popular” NYC burger spot took longer than I participated.
So back to the story, although I missed the opening act, this time I caught the main act in full. Rockers, OK Go, entertained the Brookfield crowd for 90 minutes. The crowd was much smaller tonight which was a plus for a lot of the festival goers as we were pushed to the front section right in front of the stage. The group hit the stage at 8 p.m.
Tonight I was properly introduced to the band’s music. Who remembers the treadmill video? Well that was as far as my attention stretched for the group almost twelve years ago. They ran through their hits from “White Knuckles” to “Here It Goes Again.” It truly was an entertaining show from beginning to end and I can firmly say I am a fan of their music.
There were some standout moments during the show. The band performed "This Too Shall Pass” and had the crowd sing along as loud as they could. Later on, lead vocalist Damian Kulash jumped down off the stage to serenade the crowd in the rear section with "Last Leaf," landing him inches away from our area. Another great moment that happened was this teenager whose name is “John Knox” was asked to come on stage and play the guitar. Who knows if that was planned beforehand or if that was a real moment. In any event, it delivered a memorable and fun moment.
It was a pleasure seeing OK Go perform tonight and to be properly acquainted with their music. We need to add some of their catalog to our music accounts. The ‘2017 Lowdown Hudson Music Festival’ was a nice treat and just as nice that it was hosted on the ‘Brookfield Place’ grounds. You know “I like free tings” so this entire situation was right up my alley.
