Lil Kim in the "Get Naked" Video...

Before I begin, I will just like to say that I do not miss the 90's as far as image searching. It took me forever to find this image of Lil Kim on the set of the "Get Naked" video.

Okay, so "Get Naked" was released on the eve of the new millennium, in December of 1999. The song was released by Tommy Lee's group, Methods of Mayhem. This was one of those videos that had a huge impact on my childhood. I was only ten years old at the time but I remember staying up past 11 o'clock at night just to watch this raunchy video on MTV. I mean, for that time, it was practically softcore porn.

Sonically, the song which features Lil Kim, Fred Durst, Mix Master Mike and George Clinton, stands on its own. I have been listening to it for the past two weeks on my Spotify. I cannot even remember what prompted me to start to listen to this song again after 18 years. 

Lil Kim is the magic in this song and video. Oh yes I remember... Seeing a lot of Lil Kim appreciation posts by celebrities caused me to peruse her back catalog only to find this forgotten gem. Lil Kim really was fire in the late nineties and early noughties. I remember when 'The Notorious K.I.M.' was nearing release, I said to my cousin, "I do not know how but I am going to buy that album, shhh don't tell mummy." Well I never did get the album but Lil Kim was definitely the first female artist I cared for, that was so sexually charged. Everything about her in this video screamed IT girl.
